Description

A finely rendered Northern Wei Dynasty pottery caparisoned horse. Standing on a trapezoidal tile base,  the head cocked with the mouth wide open, the mane tied high in a topknot coiffure. The elaborate flared saddle, moulded bosses and strappings displaying vibrant original pigment decoration.
Ex Hong Kong Collection. 

This piece is accompanied by a thermoluminescence from the Laboratory Kotalla, Haigerloch, Germany, stating its age to be approximately 1580 years BP.
